ten ten performs original music inspired by Japanese folk songs known as Min’yo, which are as diverse in style as the districts and regions of Japan that they are associated with. The music ranges from lively, often nonsensical songs for work, dance, weddings, and drinking to simple and inward pieces about one’s hometown or enduring hardships. Consequently, the barrier of language does not prevent one from being captivated by the heartfelt idiosyncrasies of Min’yo.
ten tenは、日本のフォークソングとして知られる「民謡（みんよう）」にインスパイアされたオリジナルの音楽を演奏します。民謡には、日本の地域や地方ごとに多様なスタイルがあります。活気に満ちたかけ声の労働歌や、踊り、結婚式、飲み会で歌われるものから、故郷や苦難についてシンプルながら心の内を歌った歌までさまざまあります。それ故、心温まる民謡の風変わりな魅力のとりこになるのに、言語の壁は問題になりません。 

ten ten is a Japanese music ensemble led by Aki Takahashi on vocals and shamisen (three-stringed instrument). Completing the trio are Kiyoshi Nagata and Heidi Chan on taiko (drums), shinobue (folk flute) and shakuhachi (end-blown flute). In the Japanese alphabet, “ten ten” refers to the two dots used when changing the sound of a syllable. In the same spirit, their ensemble strives to create its own unique voice for Japanese folk music, breathing new life into the traditional art form.
ten tenは、高橋アキがボーカルと三味線（三弦の楽器）を担当する日本の音楽アンサンブルです。トリオを完成させるのは、太鼓、篠笛（民族的な横笛）、尺八（縦笛）で参加する永田キヨシとハイディ・チャンです。日本語では、「点々」は音節の音を変える際に使われる2つの点を指します。同じように、彼らのアンサンブルは日本の民俗音楽に独自の声を生み出すことを目指し、伝統的な芸術形式に新たな息吹を吹き込もうと試みています。
