In collaboration with the H.R. MacMillan Space Centre, Powell Street Festival will host readings with local Japanese Canadian authors Emily Seo and Hanako Masutani in the Space Centre’s portable planetarium. Emily will be reading Our World: Japan and The Perfect Sushi from 12:30 – 1:00pm. Hanako will be reading Emi and Mini from 2:00 – 2:30pm. Please sign up at least 10 minutes in advance at the Japanese Hall. 

H.R. MacMillan Space Centreとのコラボレーションにより、パウエル祭では、地元の日系カナダ人作家であるセオエミリーとマスタニハナコによる朗読会を、Space Centreのポータブルプラネタリウムで開催します。エミリーは、午後１２時３０分から１時に『 Our World: Japan 』と『 The Perfect Sushi 』を読みます。ハナコは午後２時から２時３０分に『Emi and Mini』を読む予定です。日系人会館の受付にて最低10分前にはお申し込みください。 

Emily Seo holds a PhD in organic chemistry from the University of British Columbia. She worked as an Associate Editor for two chemistry journals and ran a science facility before experimenting with creative writing. The Science of Boys is her debut novel followed by two other children’s books, Our World: Japan and The Perfect Sushi.
セオエミリーは、ブリティッシュコロンビア大学で有機化学の博士号を取得しました。彼女は２つの化学ジャーナルの副編集者を務め、科学施設を運営した後、創作の執筆に挑戦しました。『The Science of Boys 』で小説デビューした後、『 Our World: Japan 』と『 The Perfect Sushi 』という子供向けの本２冊が出版されました。 

Hanako Masutani is a teacher, editor, writer, and the parent of three. She has been attending the Powell Street Festival since before she was born. Her early-reader Emi and Mini (Tradewind Books) is her first book for children.
マスタニハナコは、教師、編集者、作家であり、3人の子供の親でもあります。彼女は生まれる前からパウエル祭に参加していました。子どもが初めて1人で読むのに適した『Emi and Mini』（Tradewind Books出版）は、彼女の初めての児童書作品です。
