The JCLS Intergenerational Wellness – Family Sharing and Healing Grant supported the publication of Miyo Sasaki’s story, a Japanese Canadian Nisei who lived in Canada and Japan (1922–1968). Originally co-written with a friend, her manuscript was edited into a self-published book. Presented by her granddaughters and great-granddaughter, they will share reflections on its impact and read excerpts from the book. Titled “Winter Never Fails to Turn to Spring,” it honours Miyo’s resilience and enduring hope. 

About the Author: Born in Port Alice, British Columbia, Miyo Kozasa’s (Sasaki) life spanned two cultures and extraordinary challenges. Growing up Canadian, then facing hardship in wartime Asia, she persevered with remarkable resilience. A devoted mother, entrepreneur, and dreamer, she overcame adversity, built successful businesses, and ultimately fulfilled her dream of returning to Canada.
