Nikkei Canadian settler Teiya Kasahara 笠原貞野 (they/he) is a queer/trans interdisciplinary creator-performer based in Tkarón:to who explores the intersections of identities through opera, theatre and classical music performance. Vancouver-based queer, Japanese-Canadian pianist Alix Nishihara has been pushing the boundaries of the classical music repertoire through her collaborations with other Nikkei Canadian, Asian-Canadian, and queer artists. The Kasahara-Nishihara Duo has developed a program of songs (including songs by Japanese-Canadian pianist and contemporary Japanese composers, and arrangements of traditional Japanese songs) to explore questions of culture/s and identity/ies.  

日系カナダ人の入植者である笠原貞野（かさはら ていや、代名詞they/he）は、Tkarón:to（トロント）を拠点に活動するクィア／トランスのクリエーター兼パフォーマーで、既存の学問の枠にとらわれない横断的なアプローチで活動する表現者です。オペラ、演劇、クラシック音楽のパフォーマンスを通じて異なるアイデンティティーが交差する地点を探求しています。バンクーバーを拠点に活動するクィアの日系カナダ人ピアニスト、アリックス・ニシハラは、他の日系カナダ人、アジア系カナダ人、クィアアーティストとのコラボレーションを通じてクラシック音楽のレパートリーにおける既存の枠組みに挑戦しつづけてきました。カサハラ−ニシハラ・デュオは、日本系カナダ人のピアニストや現代日本の作曲家による曲、そして伝統的な日本の歌のアレンジを含むプログラムを創り出し、文化やアイデンティティーに関する問いを探求しています。
