Art will provide an overview of his children’s book “Road to Justice” for ages 9 to 12 using a power point presentation and reading short excerpts. He’ll comment on the importance of sharing Japanese Canadian history with students and on the illustrations created by Geoff Miki, his son. The audience will be invited to participate in Q & A session.
About the Authors: Art Miki was a teacher, elementary school principal, citizenship judge and human rights activist. As president of the NAJC, he helped negotiate the Japanese Canadian redress agreement with the Canadian government for the violation of basic rights of its citizen during World War II. He is author of three other books, the latest is a memoir “Gaman – Perseverance; Japanese Canadians’ Journey to Justice” in 2024.
Geoff Miki, Art’s son, is the illustrator and cover designer. He is yonsei and has BFA from University of Manitoba, specializing in drawing, painting, and printmaking.
