Vancouver Japanese Language School-Japanese Hall: 3rd Floor

North Pacific Cannery Museum is the last remaining Cannery village in British Columbia. Japanese Canadians played an important role in fishing and boat building in the history of the canneries. The project restored two triplexes built in North Pacific Cannery to encourage Japanese Canadians to return to the coast after internment and relocation during the second world War. 

About the Presenters: Mona Izumi is President of the Port Edward Historical Society, the governing board of North Pacific Cannery, National Historic Site. Her father was born on the North Coast and relocated to Montreal after internment. She grew up in Prince Rupert where her father fished until his death in 1966.
