paueru gaizette no. 2

The second issue of Powell Street Festival Society’s Advocacy and Outreach Committee’s paueru gaizette is here! This issue’s theme is: what do we harvest? Members of our Advocacy and Outreach Committee wanted to engage with what the change into fall and winter means to different members of our community. This issue explores the tension of harvest by considering not only the pleasure of a bountiful harvest, but also…”who gets to enjoy the fruits of a harvest? And who doesn’t?…”

This issue features 16 pages of writings, collages, poetry, a coloring page, recipes, and reflections, a few of which were submitted by community members at our Minori community event in November. The final pages also spotlight Kathy Shimizu, who was awarded the National Association of Japanese Canadians (NAJC) Dr. Gordon Hirabayashi Human Rights Award this past October. Congratulations Kathy!
