PARALLEL PATHS: Japanese Diplomacy and Nikkei Heritage

In this final session of the forum series we will look at recent Japanese Canadian experiences and then turn the discussion toward what may lie ahead in the future by asking the question: What can we learn from our shared history? Keynote speaker Greg Masuda will tell his story as a third- generation Japanese Canadian and focus on what it means to be Japanese Canadian after Redress. Consul General Okada will briefly highlight key historical events and talk about current Japan-Canada diplomatic relations: What are some important issues? What is the future outlook?

Following the speakers, there will be a panel discussion and a Q&A session open for audience participation. This is a free event open to the public.

講演会シリーズ最後回では、最近の日系カナダ人の活動及び将来の展望に焦点を当てます。過去の歴史から何を学ぶことが出来るか？この問いかけに答える形で、日系カナダ人のこれからについて考察します。グレッグ・マスダ氏が、日系カナダ人3世としての体験や経験を含め、リドレス運動後の日系カナダ人について、基調講演を行います。岡田総領事は、日系カナダ人の歴史の中の主要な出来事を総括し、今後の展望などをふまえながら、近年の日加の外交関係について講演します。

講演後は、一般参加者も加わったパネル・ディスカッションや質疑応答も行われますので、ぜひご参加下さい。
