Minori (実り) Harvest Event 2023
Sunday, November 5 | Lunch from 12:30 PM, art workshop from 1:00 PM
Oppenheimer Park | 488 Powell St. at Jackson Ave.
Free community event
We hope you’ll join us for a meal of butternut squash miso soup, plus arts and crafts at Minori (実り) Harvest in Oppenheimer Park, hosted by the Advocacy and Outreach Committee! This year, we have invited Japanese American artist, PJ Patten, to host an art workshop and assist folks responding to the prompt, ‘sounds like home.’ This theme explores how we come to know or sense a place sonically. Paper, markers, and other craft supplies will be provided, and all participants will have the option of submitting their work for potential publication in the Advocacy and Outreach Committee’s zine, the paueru gaizette!
This event is organized by Powell Street Festival Society’s Advocacy and Outreach Committee, with support from Oppenheimer Park & Carnegie Community Centre, Vancouver Japanese Language School & Japanese Hall, Yakashiro Farms, TD Park People, and Vancity.
About Minori (実り) Harvest
Minori (実り) Harvest is an annual event to celebrate the harvest season and honour the history of Japanese Canadian farmers in BC. We partner with local farmers to source fresh produce to cook and distribute a free miso butternut squash soup. There is also thematic cultural programming activities throughout the day in which we celebrate the delicious abundance of autumn with our DTES community.
