Underwater archeologist Charles Moore and VMM curator Duncan McLeod discuss the recent excavation of Japanese-Canadian fishing boat, the Sunny Island – Thursday, May 24th at 7:30pm.

The discovery and identification of the Sunny Island, a boat build in 1929 for the BC coastal fishing industry by a Japanese-Canadian boat-builder, has challenged some old assumptions about the story of the Lost Fleet and Japanese Canadian involvement in the boat building and fishing industries. Underwater archeologist Charles Moore is currently a consulting archeologist with Golder Associates and is a member of the UASBC. He has worked on projects on all four coasts of North America, plus work in the Caribbean and the Mediterranean. Duncan MacLeod is the head curator of the Vancouver Maritime Museum and has a Masters of Studies in Greek Archeology from Oxford University.

Series Finale – The Vancouver Maritime Museum and the Powell Street Festival present Spatial Poetics. SAVE THE DATE:: Friday, June 15th at 7:30pm
