GRMLN (USA), the noise pop project of Kyoto-born Yoodoo Park incorporates the sunny feel of his Southern Californian upbringing with nostalgia for Japan. Choosing the name GRMLN to highlight this feeling of disconnection, Park began writing and recording songs in 2010 in between surfing and attending the University of California Santa Cruz. GRMLN’s melancholic guitar-pop songs of his early days have morphed into something more rock-driven representing a Californian blend of clean-rock and dream-pop. GRMLN’s 2012 debut Explore (Carpark Records) was followed by a full-length album, Empire, in June 2013. He is currently working on his sophomore full-length album, Soon Away, to be released on September 16, 2014.
