I am a Sashiko artist originally from Japan and currently living in North Vancouver. Sashiko (literally “little stabs”) is a form of decorative reinforcement statching (or functional embroidery) from Japan. I am making sashiko items such as tote bag, cell phone case with very special Japanese fabric.
日本に古くから伝わる伝統的な手芸である”刺し子”でカバンや携帯電話ケースなどの小物を手作りしています。布がとても貴重だった時代、衣類の補強や防寒のために布を重ね、ひと針ひと針丁寧に刺し縫いして始まった刺し子を是非皆さんに見て、そして実際に使って頂きたいと思っています。
