A farewell to Ken Shikaze, a pioneer Japanese Canadian activist, who passed away last Saturday.

Ken Shikaze was an important figure in the early 1970s Japanese Canadian movement on Powell Street. He was a strong supporter of Tonari Gumi and a key participant in the early Powell Street Festival, and an integral part in ensuring its continuing legacy.

A public Memorial Service will be held at Heritage Hall, 3102 Main (at 15th), Vancouver, at 2:00 pm on Friday, February 21. In lieu of koden or flowers, donations to Tonari Gumi or the Canadian Diabetes Association are encouraged.
