Senda Kinoshita Nikkei Histories is a family history book completed through the JCLS intergenerational wellness fund by Christopher Takashi Robertson and members of his family. Containing over 300 pages of first-person interviews, photos, documents and research into the struggle and successes of two Japanese families arriving in Canada 125 years ago, becoming intertwined through circumstance and their journey to present day.
About the Presenter: Christopher Takashi Robertson is a yonsei nikkei artist based in Montreal, Quebec. A descendent of Mission, BC, strawberry farmers and survivors of the sugar beet fields of Southern Alberta, his family would quickly move East to Toronto shortly after 1949, quoting his grandfather, “So they can never round us up again.”
