The Story of the Powell Street Salmon Barbecue (Sat/土)

This 28-minute film, played on continuous loop, takes a brief look into Japanese Canadian history, roots of Powell Street Festival, and the Salmon Barbecue booth as a piece of the Redress history. The ethics of community care are at the essence. The Powell Street Salmon Barbecue History Group documents the rich history of the Powell Street Salmon Barbecue booth at the Powell Street Festival through storytelling, research and art. This initiative is rooted in the ethos of honouring Japanese Canadians histories, celebrating activism, and centring the spirit of community care.
