The Powell Street Festival is a unique festival in that it celebrates so many aspects of the community in an inclusive, accessible and respectful environment. We rely on hundreds of volunteers to make this festival the wonderful event that it is! Volunteering is a great opportunity to meet new friends, spend time with friends and family, and get behind the scenes of this vibrant and special event.

Online Volunteer Registration
Volunteer applications for the 2014 Powell Street Festival are now online! Click here to fill out an application. We welcome returning volunteers, and ask that all returning volunteers fill out an online application.
Accepted applicants will receive a password to the Volunteer Information Centre, where they will be able to see the shifts we have assigned based on their interests and availability. Volunteers can always check their schedule and sign up for additional shifts. If you have any questions, please email volunteer [at] powellstreetfestival.com.

Year Round Opportunities
If you are interested in our ongoing volunteer opportunities, please email info [at] powellstreetfestival.com. The following volunteer opportunities are available:
Help us out with database management, mailouts, and other fun stuff!
We program events throughout the year (such as concerts and performance events) and need volunteers to help with front of house, merchandise sales, stage crew and promotion
Help us promote our year-round events by designing posters, flyers and advertisements.
Help determine the theme and artists of future festivals!
Help us to increase the profile of the Society and to advocate for the low-income community in the Downtown Eastside.
Help us in letter-writing campaigns, corporate campaigns and special event planning.
We are also looking for new Board members.
The Festival Committee is made up of very dedicated Festival Coordinators. Each Festival Coordinator is a volunteer who is responsible for a specific area of festival production and oversees the volunteers that help with that particular area (including the areas listed below).
During Festival weekend (BC Day long weekend), we will require hundreds of volunteers to help run the festival smoothly! Positions include:
- children’s tent
- stage crew
- site crew
- poster distribution
- and more!
