The Powell Street Festival takes place on the traditional, unceded and occupied territories of the Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish), Səl̓ílwətaʔ/Selilwitulh (Tsleil-Waututh), and xʷməθkwəy̓əm (Musqueam) Nations.
The Powell Street Festival Society’s (PSFS) mission is to celebrate Japanese Canadian arts and culture to connect communities. In addition to our main activity, producing the Powell Street Festival (PSF) locate in Vancouver’s historic Japanese Canadian neighbourhood, Paueru Gai, today known as the Downtown Eastside (DTES), we offer ongoing year round programs. We acknowledge and respect that we are located on the traditional, unceded and occupied territories of the Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish), Səl̓ílwətaʔ/Selilwitulh (Tsleil-Waututh), and xʷməθkwəy̓əm (Musqueam) Nations.
In addition to our signature event – The Powell Street Festival – we engage in co-presentations with arts organizations and produce an annual season of cultural and artistic programming. See our past programs here »
