Daruma Community Art Installation Campaign | 45th Powell Street Festival

Help us kickstart the campaign by folding your very own daruma origami!

Exciting news! Powell Street Festival is launching our Daruma Community Art Installation Campaign!

As you may know, daruma as seen as symbols of well-wishes and luck. They are also our unofficial mascot! In the spirit of Powell Street Festival, we encourage you to create your very own daruma as a gesture of good will to your community, your household, and Paueru Gai.

What is the Daruma Community Art Installation? We will build a community art installation through the Festival season to be completed over the Festival weekend. The installation will be made of thousands of daruma origami – collected from Powell Street Festival supporters like you! – and will symbolize well-wishes and good will from the community to the Paueru Gai neighbourhood.

How can you participate? Simply fold daruma with whatever paper you have. Share in well-wishing by folding daruma with your friends and family.

Take a photo with your daruma and tag us on Instagram @powellstfest and #powellstfest to spread good will to our Powell Street Festival community!

Our final ask is that you send your daruma to us so that we can incorporate them into our Daruma Community Art Installation! Address is below.

You can also drop them off at the Festival Depot in the Paueru Gai neighbourhood throughout the festival weekend, July 31st – August 1st.

Contribute your daruma origami to be entered in a raffle prize for Powell Street Festival goods!

25 daruma = 1 raffle entry!

100 daruma = 10 raffle entries!

And… the Top Prize will be be given to the individual who contributes the most daruma!
