Volunteer with the Powell Street Festival!
The Powell Street Festival is a unique festival in that it celebrates so many aspects of the community in an inclusive, accessible and respectful environment. We rely on hundreds of volunteers to make this festival the wonderful event that it is! Volunteering is a great opportunity to meet new friends, spend time with friends and family, and get behind the scenes of this vibrant and special event.
If you are interested in signing up as a new volunteer for the festival, please download the volunteer application form as an Adobe Acrobat pdf or a Word doc. If you are a returning volunteer, there is no need to fill out the from again. Please contact our office at 604.739.9388 or psfvolunteering at gmail.com to discuss volunteer shifts.
The following volunteer opportunities are available:
Year Round Opportunities
General Office – help us out with database management, mailouts, and other fun stuff!
Events – we program events throughout the year (such as concerts and performance events) and need volunteers to help with front of house, merchandise sales, stage crew and promotion
Graphic Design – help us promote our year-round events by designing posters, flyers and advertisements
Programming Committee – help determine the theme and artists of future festivals!
Advocacy Committee – help us to increase the profile of the Society and to advocate for the revitalization of the Downtown Eastside
Fundraising Committee – help us in letter-writing campaigns, corporate campaigns and special event planning
PSFS Board – We are also looking for new Board members.
Seasonal Opportunities
Festival Committee – The Festival Committee is made up of very dedicated Festival Coordinators. Each Festival Coordinator is a volunteer who is responsible for a specific area of festival production and oversees the volunteers that help with that particular area (including the areas listed below).
Festival Volunteers – During Festival weekend (Aug 2–3, 2008), we will require hundreds of volunteers to help run the festival smoothly! Positions include:
- hospitality
- children’s tent
- environment
- stage crew
- site crew
- drivers
- poster distribution
- and more!
